A significant competitive advantage for the Moncure Megasite is its access to multiple modes of industry-ready transportation infrastructure. Whether it’s by road, rail, air or water, your company will be able to easily transport raw materials and finished products to and from the site. Click here to view a larger map.

Dual Rail Access

Existing Norfolk Southern and CSX rail lines intersect just southeast of the site. The CSX line already runs along the northern edge of the property, and officials with Norfolk Southern have drawn plans that show a proposed spur to their line to the south. Not only would this mean dual rail access, it means dual rail access from two Class One operators.

The Raleigh Executive Jetport is seven miles from the site and offers a runway capable of landing a fully loaded DC-10. Taxiways are being upgraded to handle loads of up to 100,000 pounds. Additional hanger space is under construction to house executive aircraft.

Just 30 minutes northeast of the site is Raleigh-Durham International Airport. This fast growing airport has seen massive upgrades in recent years to accommodate increased traffic and additional non-stop destinations.

Key Facts:

  • Nine major carriers

  • 11 million+ travelers in 2016

Highways & Interstates

The Moncure Megasite can be easily accessed by four different existing highway interchanges on US Highway 1 — a median divided, limited access freeway. The property sits just 13 miles from NC 540, Raleigh’s interstate-style outer loop and less than 25 miles from I-40 and I-440. From there, you’re a direct shot to I-85 and I-95 and the rest of the United States.

Deepwater Ports

The Moncure Megasite is in close proximity to five East Coast deepwater ports, with the most active being the Port of Charleston and the Norfolk International Terminals at the Port of Virginia. Each of the five ports can be accessed by road and rail.
